COME, PEOPLE OF THE RISEN KING

Words and Music by Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, Stuart Townend

VERSE 1

Come, people of the risen King

Who delight to bring Him praise;

Come all and tune your hearts to sing.

To the Morning Star of grace.

From the shifting shadows of the earth

We will lift our eyes to Him;

Where steady arms of mercy reach,

To gather children in.

CHORUS

Rejoice! Rejoice!

Let ev’ry tongue rejoice!

One heart, one voice;

O Church of Christ rejoice!

VERSE 2

Come those whose joy is morning sun,

And those weeping through the night;

Come those who tell of battles won,

And those struggling in the fight.

For His perfect love will never change,

And His mercies never cease—

But follow us through all our days

With the certain hope of peace.

CHORUS

Rejoice! Rejoice!

Let ev’ry tongue rejoice!

One heart, one voice;

O Church of Christ rejoice!

INSTRUMENTAL

VERSE 3

Come young and old from ev’ry land,

Men and women of the faith;

Come those with full or empty hands,

Find the riches of His grace.

Over all the world His people sing,

Shore to shore we hear them call

The truth that cries through ev’ry age,

"Our God is all in all!"

CHORUS

Rejoice! Rejoice!

Let ev’ry tongue rejoice!

One heart, one voice;

O Church of Christ rejoice!

CHORUS

Rejoice! Rejoice!

Let ev’ry tongue rejoice!

One heart, one voice;

O Church of Christ rejoice!

1 CORINTHIANS 15:19-20

 19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Raise your joys and triumphs high.

Alleluia!

Sing ye heav'ns and earth reply:

"Alleluia!"

VERSE 2

Where O death, is now thy sting?

Where's thy victory, O grave?

Alleluia!

VERSE 1

What is our hope

In life and death?

Christ alone!

Christ alone!

What is our only

Confidence?

That our souls

To Him belong.

Who holds our days

Within His hand?

What comes, apart

From His command?

And what will keep us

To the end?

The love of Christ

In which we stand.

CHORUS

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Our hope springs eternal.

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Now and ever we confess:

"Christ our hope

In life and death!"

VERSE 2

What truth can calm

The troubled soul?

God is good;

God is good.

Where is His grace

And goodness known?

In our great

Redeemer's blood.

Who holds our faith

When fears arise?

Who stands above

The stormy trial?

Who sends the waves

That bring us nigh?

Unto the shore,

The rock of Christ!

CHORUS

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Our hope springs eternal.

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Now and ever we confess:

"Christ our hope

In life and death!"

VERSE 3

Unto the grave,

What shall we sing?

Christ, He lives!

Christ, He lives!

And what reward

Will heaven bring?

Everlasting life with Him.

There we will rise

To meet the Lord,

Then sin and death

Will be destroyed;

And we will feast

In endless joy,

When Christ is ours

Forevermore!

CHORUS

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Our hope springs eternal.

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Now and ever we confess:

"Christ our hope

In life and death!"

CHORUS

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Our hope springs eternal.

O Sing, Hallelujah!

Now and ever we confess:

"Christ our hope

In life and death!"

Now and ever we confess:

"Christ our hope

In life and death!"

HIS MERCY IS MORE

VERSE 1

What love

could remember,

No wrongs

we have done?

Omniscient, all knowing,

He counts not their sum.

Thrown into a sea

Without bottom or shore;

Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

CHORUS

Praise the Lord!
His mercy is more!

Stronger than darkness,

New every morn;
Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

VERSE 2

What patience

Would wait

As we constantly roam?

What father, so tender,
Is calling us home?

He welcomes

The weakest,

The vilest, the poor;
Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

CHORUS

Praise the Lord!
His mercy is more!

Stronger than darkness,

New every morn;
Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

VERSE 3

What riches of kindness
He lavished on us
His blood was

The payment,

His life was the cost;

We stood 'neath a debt

We could never afford;

Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

CHORUS (2X)

Praise the Lord!
His mercy is more!

Stronger than darkness,

New every morn;
Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

Our sins they are many,

His mercy is more!

Sing the victory of the Lamb!

Hallelujah! Amen!

Sermon

L.J. Wright, Lead Pastor

1 Corinthians 15:12-20

The Resurrection of the Dead

12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross

Words by Fanny Crosby, Music by William Doane (1869). Public Domain.

This arrangement revised lyrics vv. 2 and 4 by Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, and Matt Boswell

Verse 1

Jesus, keep me near the cross,

There a precious fountain;

Free to all — a healing stream,

Flows from Calv'ry's mountain.

Chorus

In the cross, in the cross,

Be my glory ever;

Till my ransomed soul shall find

Rest beyond the river.

Verse 2

Near the cross my trembling soul

Heard the Savior calling;

There He died that I may know

Grace and peace abounding.

Chorus

In the cross, in the cross,

Be my glory ever;

Till my ransomed soul shall find

Rest beyond the river.

Verse 3

Near the cross, O Lamb of God,

Bring its scenes before me;

Help me walk from day to day,

With its shadow o'er me.

Chorus

In the cross, in the cross,

Be my glory ever;

Till my ransomed soul shall find

Rest beyond the river.

Verse 4

Near the cross my heart will stay,

Hoping trusting ever;

Till my eyes shall see the face

Of my blessed Savior.

Chorus

In the cross, in the cross,

Be my glory ever;

Till my ransomed soul shall find

Rest beyond the river.
